Whether you are a morning person or not, enjoying a mug of warm lemon water is a great way to start your day. The health benefits of lemons include ⁠ ⁠

Skin health. Lemons are high in vitamin C making them a skin-friendly tonic. Vitamin C is important for collagen production and collagen is a protein that is one of the building blocks of the skin. It's what gives skin that plump youthful glow.

Immune Health. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, which protects the body from oxidative stress and disease.

Iron absorption. My clients hear this one a lot! Vitamin c increases iron absorption from the foods you eat. This is of particular importance for vegetarians and vegans who are at a greater risk of iron deficiency.

Digestive support. A mug of lemon water first thing is a great way to kick-start digestion. ⁠

If you want to jazz things up, add in some apple cider vinegar, ginger, some cayenne pepper, garlic and local/organic honey for added benefits.

Immunity Tonic⁠ recipe below:


  • 2 lemons peeled⁠

  • 1/2 cup ginger⁠

  • 1/4 cup garlic⁠

  • 1/2 cup honey (organic or local) ⁠

  • 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper⁠

  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar (with mother)⁠ ⁠


  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and pulse until all ingredients are a paste.⁠

  2. Transfer paste to a glass jar or Kilner jar and store in the fridge.⁠

  3. Every day add 2 teaspoons to a mug of hot water and enjoy.⁠ ⁠ ⁠
